Get to know me - Bernard Michael Rochford
My name is Bernard Michael Rochford, born on the 10th of October, 1970, and based in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. I’m someone who finds meaning in the simple things—barbecuing over coal, planting a new season’s crop, walking through the bush at dawn, or watching the Carlton and Brisbane Lions play a good game of footy.
I created this space to share the things I love most—BBQ, gardening, nature, sport, and regenerative agriculture. My goal is to build a lifestyle that is intentional, hands-on, and connected to the land. Whether I’m firing up the grill, composting garden waste, or observing native birds in the treetops, everything I do is about appreciating the beauty and rhythm of life.

My Goal in Life
My goal is to live in tune with what really matters. That includes preparing food with care, respecting the land that provides it, staying active through sport and movement, and making time for moments that ground me—whether that’s a weekend bushwalk or a quiet afternoon in the garden.
I want to show others that it’s possible to live well without overcomplicating things. To enjoy the outdoors. To cook food that feeds the body and the soul. To care about the source of what’s on your plate.
If you’re someone who values balance, sustainability, and simplicity, I hope what I share as Bernard Michael Rochford helps you reconnect with that too.

My Career, What I'm Doing Now, and What's Next
My professional journey began with a strong interest in how the human body functions and heals. That interest led me to study osteopathy, where I found a deep alignment with its principles—treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, and encouraging the body’s own ability to restore balance.
After qualifying as an osteopath, I spent several years working in established clinics across Queensland, developing hands-on experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. I worked with people from all walks of life—from athletes to office workers to retirees—helping them manage pain, improve mobility, and return to the things they loved doing.
Eventually, I founded my own clinic in Brisbane’s inner south. For over 15 years, I ran a successful osteopathy practice in Woolloongabba, serving the local community with care, consistency, and a personal approach. It became more than just a workplace—it was a space where I could connect with people, share knowledge, and help improve lives every day.
After a fulfilling career, I made the decision to retire from clinical practice. It wasn’t an easy choice, but it was the right one. I wanted to shift my energy toward the other passions that had always been part of who I am—spending time in the garden, perfecting my barbecue techniques, observing native wildlife, and deepening my involvement in regenerative agriculture.
These lifestyle interests are a natural continuation of my background in health. They still reflect my belief in wellness, balance, and living with intention—just through a different lens.
Today, I focus on growing this space—bernardmichaelrochford BBQ—as a place where I can share what I’ve learned over the years. From smoking briskets to building native garden beds, from supporting soil health to finding peace in nature, this is where I now put my energy.
